If data is registered with Factom, how is the owner protected from forgeries or theft of the data?

Lets say for example I Factomize documents containing patents, at a some point these documents are stolen. Do I benefit from Factom in any way? Another example: the patents are stolen and used without my consent, does Factom give me the ability to claim ownership of these documents, and if so how? Last example: The documents are forged, how does Factom help me proof that my version is the only real one. (I am trying to understand Factom)
